Heroic Dragon Soul Completed!

We are done with Dragon Soul progression forever! After only about a day and a half of attempts on Heroic Madness we were able to get this fight down (this post is a little late…). Compared to the difficulty of Heroic Spine, we found this fight to be a a little bit anticlimactic for the final boss of Cataclysm. As usual for our group, the loot wasn’t terribly useful. We got 2x DPS caster weapons when all of the casters in our raid already had Dragonwraths. Grats healers on your 416 leveling weapons!

Since it’s the last new boss we’ll down until Mists of Pandaria, this seems like a good time to hand out some gratitude. I’d like to thank all the members of our team for a being flexible, solid core of drama-free raiders. Of the current core team, some have been here since the MC days (Arex, Thelm (Thelmfour), Nfariessence, Queliik, Defran (Kanaan), and Minimerlinx), while others were picked up in TBC and WotLK (Çhubathingy) and some have started raiding with us in the last few months (BHV, Purpledrink, Domi (Æblitz), Gethammeredd, and Necrod). I look forward to raiding with you all in MoP.

I’d also like to thank all the people who are NOT a part of our core team who have helped make our raid team a success. There have been many times when we’ve been short a member and we’ve been fortunate to have a lot of great people willing to help us, even on progression nights when a kill is nowhere in sight. In particular, I’d like to thank those who could no longer commit to core raiding but still helped whenever possible (Spasina, Sacredknight (Kerrena), and Syrion) and those people from the alt raids who stepped in to help the main raids (Nique, Sini, Gemgirl, Massacre and Arkhann). Thanks again to these people (and anyone else I forgot to mention) for all your help in RM’s PvE progression.

Now that we’ve finished all the current content, we’ll be finishing up all the random achievements from this expansion, exploring the MoP Beta, playing Diablo III and (most frighteningly) Rated BGs.

Heroic Spine Down!

After a couple of unforseen roster changes and MANY painful attempts, we finally downed this encounter once we re-rolled my mage into a prot warrior (hooray for shields, stuns, and kiting) and made Chuba go resto (God totem FTW). Thankfully, the recent nerfs allowed us to get this fight down while still having a marshmallow-tossing warlock and a dot-happy deathknight in the raid. On to Heroic Madness!

Since the last post, Daedduke also completed RM’s first legendary daggers: Golad, Twilight of Aspects and Tiriosh, Nightmare of Ages. Grats to Daedduke and Team Kissi!

Only one encounter left in Dragon Soul, then we’ll be pushing on into Rated Battlegrounds, MoP Beta and Diablo III!

Dragon Soul Progress

After the longest lack of updates in RM history, I’m officially taking over as front page updater to make sure that some posts actually get up here. Our most recent kill is Heroic Warmaster Blackhorn, which we took down last week. After grinding our way through Phase 1 for what seemed like eternity, he fell over after only 3 attempts in Phase 2. On to Heroic Spine!

We have also killed the other 5 heroic bosses in Dragon Soul:

Firelands Progress

Despite a holiday start and the dreaded summer funks, we capped off our first 7 weeks of Firelands with our first Ragnaros kill. This kill was especially meaningful for many of the players in our “Team Classic” 10 man group, as it included many players who were a part of Royal Militia’s first Ragnaros kill almost 6 years ago (8/24/05). Of the 10 people in this new kill we have 8 people that were raiding with Royal Militia at that time: Spasina, Arex, Keade, Minimerlinx and Nfariessence on the same characters that you see here today. We also have Aarin (formerly on his warrior tank Aren), Queliik (formerly on his warlock Quelik), and Rounia (formerly on his rogue Radecus). Not able to be in for this kill but definitely a part of Team Classic’s Firelands progression is our boomkin Thelmfour (formerly the guild’s warrior MT Thelm). Along with the old fogies are Tankadonn and Bossbullets who make up the core of this 10 man team.

Update? What’s an update?

I know it’s been forever and a day since an update post, but we’re not dead (honest). Royal Militia is still raiding and we’re still on Bleeding Hollow. At the start of Cataclysm we separated into multiple 10 man teams to clear through Normal modes and have since consolidated into one 25-man raid and 2+ 10-man raids.

Progression: We have cleared all normal modes on both 10 and 25 player raids. In addition, our 10-man Heroic progression is 2/5 BoT (Halfus and V&T), 4/6 BWD (Magmaw, Atramedes, Chimaeron, and Maloriak), and 1/2 Throne (Conclave). Our 25-man Heroic progression is 1/5 BoT (Halfus) and 3/6 BWD (Magmaw, Chimaeron, Atramedes) with more kills to come as the shift to 25 man continues. We hope to have all T11 content cleared before the release of Firelands, even with our 2-3 night per week schedule.
